Please understand your deposit information must be submitted online with your application. It will take at least 10 days for your deposit to be processed and to confirm your personal information.

Backed by the strength of Visa and First National Bank of Omaha

Your Kickstart Secured Visa Card combines the wide acceptance of the Visa network with the sound financial backing of First National Bank of Omaha, with 150 years of family-owned banking experience.

Your stepping stone to credit that can grow with you

We want to help you achieve your goals. The Kickstart Secured Visa Card can help improve your credit if you use your card wisely, stay within your credit limit, and make on-time payments to us and other creditors.

As you continue to manage your card responsibly, you could qualify for a credit limit increase on your secured card – without sending an additional deposit – in as few as 7 months. As soon as 11 months after opening your account, you could be eligible for an unsecured card from First National Bank – and upon approval automatically get your deposit back! And the best part? The low $29 annual fee* on your secured account will be eliminated if you are approved for and open an unsecured account.

QUESTIONS ABOUT KICKSTART
Who is First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO)?
Why are they the right bank to trust with my money?
FNBO is part of the largest family-owned banking company in the United States. We have over 150 years of experience and have been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s best banks. One of our core values is “integrity in every interaction;” you can count on us to do what’s right by every customer.
What is a secured credit card?
Is it the same thing as a regular credit card? Or are there differences?
A secured credit card works like any other credit card except that it requires a security deposit which is held as collateral for your account. The initial security deposit is the amount of your credit limit. The Kickstart Secured Card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.
Is this a prepaid or debit card?
I already have access to both of those options. How is this different?
The Kickstart Secured Card is not a prepaid or debit card. It’s a credit card in your name that you use as you would any other credit card. And unlike debit and prepaid cards, how you use your card will reflect on your credit rating with the three major credit bureaus.
Is my FICO® Credit Score really free?
And why should I care about it?
There is no charge for receiving your FICO® Bankcard Score 8, the version of FICO® Credit Score we use to manage your account. This is a free service to help you gain insight into your credit history, which can help you make good financial decisions in the future. Please note that new cardholders will generally see their FICO® Credit Score within 45 days of account opening.
Where can I use the Kickstart Secured Card?
Can I use it for renting a car, for example? I can’t do that with my debit card.
You can use your Kickstart Secured Card anywhere Visa credit cards are accepted. For example, using this card for your grocery trips and paying the balance regularly is a great way to establish a regular usage and payment routine.
How can I get an unsecured credit card?
When will I qualify for a card that doesn’t require a deposit?
By using your card and making regular, on-time bill payments it is possible for you to qualify for a credit limit increase on your secured card – without the additional deposit – in as little as 7 months. As soon as 11 months after opening your account, if on-time payments and regular use of the card continue, you may qualify for a fully unsecured card and, if approved, your original deposit will automatically be refunded.
Will I get my deposit money back?
I know the funds are used to secure the repayment of my card, but for how long exactly?
Starting as early as 11 months from opening your Kickstart Secured Card, we begin reviewing your account to see if you qualify to be upgraded to an unsecured card. At any time after 11 months, if you do qualify, we will automatically send your secured deposit back to you.
